Do you want to volunteer in a role which will make a difference by providing support to women who have experienced domestic abuse? Do you want to be part of an organisation which aims to end domestic abuse?

This is a brilliant time to get involved in Dundee Women’s Aid as we expand our volunteer programme. As part of this, we are looking for volunteers for a variety of roles.

DWA Campaigner
  • Work with others to think of interesting and creative ways to raise awareness of domestic abuse and Dundee Women’s Aid
  • Create fundraising initiatives
  • Be part of activities that help us to raise our profile and to raise funds
  • Encourage others to join Dundee Women’s Aid, volunteer with us, or to share our promotional and awareness-raising information
  • Organise events with others to run in the local community, which help us to raise awareness of domestic abuse and of Dundee Women’s Aid.

Homework Club Helper
  • Meet up with children and young people on a regular basis (usually once per week during term-time)
  • Provide support, if required, to children and young people with homework and school-related tasks
  • Travel within Dundee to undertake volunteering
  • Complete paperwork in relation to this role

Refuge Support
  • Shop for items to refurbish our refuges
  • Organise and manage stock
  • Sort donations of food and clothing and help to create starter packs
  • Ensure at all times, the maintenance of DWA’s confidentiality policy
  • Volunteer within the facilities team to sort and deliver food packs to be delivered to refuge accommodation
  • Be able to drive and provide own vehicle (insured for business purposes) as this role will involve delivering packs to various locations throughout Dundee

Support Line Call Handler
  • Provide 1:1 telephone support, including emotional support, information and advice to women calling the support line.
  • Signpost women to other agencies if necessary or appropriate.
  • Book initial appointments with the Women’s Support team
  • Process referrals
  • Respond to support emails
  • Liaise with external agencies and internally with the WSS team.
  • Complete paperwork in relation to this role.
